The Merry Stage closes its season with tragic news. Tamás Böröndi, the theater director, died. He was sixty-five years old.

Tamás Böröndi was born in 1955 in Budapest. After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1980, he became a member of the Csokonai Theater in Debrecen. From 1984 he performed at the Budapest Operetta Theater and then on the Merry Stage, and since 2002 he also worked as a freelance artist for various companies. He taught musical acting at the Rock Theater studio and the Arany 10 music studio. In addition to his theatrical roles, he has appeared in several feature films, television movies, and occasionally dubbed.

From 2013, Vidám Színpad moved to a new location, the EuroCenter in Óbuda, where Tamás Böröndi became the director of the company. Dezső Straub continued the tradition that Gyula Bodrogi had previously created with the artistic director. In addition to directing theater and acting, he also worked on set design.
