The Hungarian Rectors Conference and the National Conference of Student Municipalities (HÖOK) initiated a consultation on the situation of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE). The invitation was also accepted by the university management, the head of the university maintainer and the head of the university student government.

All this was announced by the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference to the MTI on Friday, the meeting will take place on September 8 at the Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE). The organization was started by the two organizations because they see that the “stronger statements” tend to deepen the gap between the maintainer and the university, and the solution requires dialogue. Both organizations view structural change as a forward-thinking process, but firmly believe that it can only lead to results if the maintainer and the university will begin to cooperate along the same linesOtherwise the university and the students are also injured in the process.

As we have written, the leadership of the university and the Senate resigned with effect from September 1, since that day the institution is maintained by the Foundation for the Arts of Theater and Cinema, and the president of the board is Attila Vidnyánszky. The faculty resigned from the university held a press conference on Wednesday noting that they had resigned from their leadership position, not teaching, so that during their period of notice, that is, until the end of September, they would teach at the institution and do everything for the students. Students protest almost every day for the freedom of their university: they barricaded themselves on Monday night, protesting that the institution became the property of the foundation led by Attila Vidnyánszky as of September 1. For Sunday, they are organizing a lifeline: the students want to mobilize thousands of people to obtain a document called Magna Charta Universitatum containing the demands of the building of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts (SZFE) to Parliament.
