The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 2,079 new Hungarian citizens, thus increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 63,642. Most of the 63 deaths were chronic elderly patients, so the number of deaths increased to 1,535 and 16,646 have already been recovered. The number of active infections is 45,461. 27% of the actively infected, 35% of the dead and 29% of those recovered are from Budapest. The hospital treats 2,891 coronavirus patients, 243 of whom are hooked up to ventilators.
The second wave of the epidemic is increasing dramatically across Europe and in Hungary, and the number of infected people is increasing dynamically. The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. Older people are also asked to pay more attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators must do everything possible to prevent infection. If a focal point takes place in a social institution or elsewhere in the community, the epidemiological deployment unit will take the necessary actions. Operating staff provide non-invasive nursing home ventilators for more than 200 people.
