The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 750 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 21,200. There were 7 chronically elderly patients who died, bringing the number of deaths to 709 and 4,818 have already recovered. The number of actively infected people is 15,673. 39% of the actively infected, 56% of the dead and 39% of those recovered are from Budapest. 549 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized, 32 of whom are hooked up to a ventilator.

As data on new infections warn, the second wave of the epidemic is occurring in Hungary. The government’s goal is to keep the country running and not allow the virus to paralyze everyday life, so easy-to-follow rules of thumb are now even more important, they write at koronavirus.gov.hu.

They warn that the use of the mask is mandatory not only in shops and public transport, but also in cinemas, theaters, shopping centers, health and social care facilities and customer reception offices. After 23:00, restaurants and entertainment venues must be closed.

To curb community spread, they are still being asked to:

  • Avoid places where there are many people inside,
  • if possible, keep social distance,
  • wash your hands frequently and thoroughly,
  • whoever has been ordered to be officially quarantined for a stay abroad or for any other reason, must strictly comply with it
  • anyone with symptoms should not go into the community but stay home and notify their GP by phone,
  • In schools, starting in October, teachers and students can only enter after a body temperature measurement.

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. Older people are also asked to pay close attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators must do everything possible to prevent infection.

In September, the school year began with traditional working hours, but with strict security measures, in almost 16,000 public educational institutions in more than 13,000 workplaces. The operational court currently ordered emergency breaks in 24 kindergartens and 8 schools, and digital work schedules for 200 classes and 9 entire schools due to coronavirus diseases.
