The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 510 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 7,892, the government information portal reported.
Three chronic patients died, bringing the death toll to 624.
The number of active infections registered is currently 3316. 43% of them live in Budapest and 59% of the deceased live in the capital. There are currently 139 coronavirus patients in the hospital, 9 of whom are on ventilators.
As the data on new infections warn, the epidemic is not over, the second wave has reached Hungary, the number of active infections is increasing again, so it is still very important to maintain discipline, entry restrictions and general rules hygiene, they write.
The introduction of the virus represents the greatest threat to the health and work of the Hungarian people, which is why the conditions for entry from abroad have been tightened again. “According to the Statutes, foreign citizens cannot enter the territory of Hungary, and Hungarian citizens returning from abroad must have an official 14-day home quarantine,” writes koronavirus.gov.hu.
To curb social spread, we will continue to avoid places where there are a lot of people inside, preferably maintaining social distance, washing our hands frequently and thoroughly, wearing the mask in stores and on public transport.
They add that anyone who has been ordered an official home quarantine for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply. Anyone with symptoms should not go into the community, but rather stay home and notify their GP by phone. By adhering to all of this, we can prevent the spread of infection and introduce new measures that restrict our daily lives.

During the week, the daily contagion data in Hungary was overturned, while health professionals and the police also warn that discipline among citizens has been relaxed. The government has not yet decided to impose drastic restrictions to reduce the economic impact of the epidemic, the dangers of which were also highlighted in yesterday’s announcement by the Hungarian Medical Chamber.
The organization wrote a letter to Ministers Miklós Kásler and Sándor Pintér, in which the last few days have been about an “explosive increase in the epidemic”.
In our deepest professional conviction, in light of the latest figures signaling the beginning of another wave of catastrophic threats, immediate and effective action by the Government is required.
The MOK said.
Two main areas are identified: on the one hand, the reaffirmation of community prevention, that is, the promotion and control of the use of masks, the suspension of mass events, sporting events and extended public tests, communication of an active government presence and action against virus and epidemic deniers. On the other hand, they ask that the health system be prepared by the government to effectively face the second wave of the epidemic.
The peak that appeared in place of the “flat epidemic curve” pointed out in the first wave better reveals the problems in curbing the coronavirus. You can find more statistics by clicking here.
