The government will provide another HUF 61 billion subsidy to companies that undertake to develop without laying off their employees, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced on Saturday.

Péter Szijjártó told the MTI after participating in the discussion of economic strategy in the Carmelite monastery that in this “struggle” the companies are the most important “allies” that are committed to developing despite difficult circumstances. As said, current developments and investments are a guarantee for the protection of existing jobs, which is why the government provides support to companies that promise not to lay off their employees.

The vitality of the Hungarian economy is clearly demonstrated by the fact that 363 companies applied for this support in a quarter of an hour.

– he said, adding that 285 of them have a Hungarian-owned background, while the rest are local but foreign-owned companies that employ Hungarians at the same time. The 363 companies pledged to make an investment of approximately 199,000 million HUF, thus protecting some 49,000 jobs, said Péter Szijjártó, who thanked these companies, noting that the government represents about a third of the investment amount.
