The technical development of border protection on a ten-kilometer line cost 38 million guilders, and this amount counts as small money, writes hvg.hu. The portal was informed by the Ministry of the Interior that the construction of additional sections will be adapted to the changes in the border security situation.

The Ministry indicated that if an underground fence were built throughout the section, it would cost approximately 650 million HUF. This is a fraction of the HUF 12.6 billion amount already spent on the fence, but the Orbán government did not clarify the details. Nor did it demand 270 billion HUF from the European Union.

First in 2015, a fast-track wire barrier was built, followed by a NATO fence at the border sections between Hungary and Serbia and Hungary and Croatia. Later, they even erected a fence in one long piece and equipped the limit lock with super sensors. The development of smart fences is intended to partially replace and alleviate living protection as planned.

The border is also protected by police and soldiers, but data on the number of the latter has been encrypted for 30 years. According to police data, the number of people trying to cross the border has been on the rise since last fall, and they are trying to get to Hungary with rubber boats and ladders, among other things.

At the end of last year, the first tunnel on the border was discovered, and then the police continued to publish the discovery of more and more underground tunnels, quite narrow, drilled under the border lock. Finally, it was announced in August that the border blockade would be reinforced underground due to the increasing attempts.

The location of the depth line has not been revealed. The construction of the underground sections has not been much rumored yet, so in the end it is not even known when the new reinforcement was completed. At the same time, the discovery of the tunnels was reported several times in September, more were found in one day, and most recently on October 5, police.hu reported.
