New vaccine shipments arrived in Hungary on Thursday: 54,000 doses of Moderna and 21,600 doses of AstraZeneca. On the government information page, it is written that a third less of the latter was shipped than previously promised, adding that only reduced shipments are expected in the coming weeks. Both vaccines will be administered to registered seniors.
So far, 1.5 million people have been vaccinated, putting Hungary second on the EU vaccination list, according to the portal. At the moment, Hungarian doctors can vaccinate with five types of vaccines: Pfizer, Sputnik-V, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Sinopharm. They can be placed under official control and cannot be vaccinated until they have been completed.
According to data from the site, Hungary has so far immobilized the following amounts of each vaccine:
- Pfizer-BioNtech committed 10,870,000 doses and received 1,129,425 doses
- Modern reserved 1,744,000 servings, 134,400 servings arrived
- AstraZeneca committed 6,540,000 doses and received 426,700 doses
- Szputynik V committed 2,000,000 doses, received 425,600 doses
- Sinopharm has committed 5,000,000 doses and has received 1,100,000 doses
- Janssen committed 4,360,000 servings, 0 servings came
- CureVac committed 500,000 doses, 0 doses received.
Thus, so far a total of 24,014,000 doses of vaccine have been acquired through EU acquisitions by the Orbán government, of which 1,690,525 doses have been received so far. In contrast, a total of 7 million doses of “oriental” vaccines were contracted, of which Hungary received 1,525,600 doses.
