The employer and worker representatives failed to agree on an increase in the minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum wage next year nor at Wednesday’s meeting of the Permanent Consultative Forum on Competition and Government.

Sándor Bodó, Secretary of State for Employment Policy of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, held a press conference after the failed consultation, where, according to the MTI, he said that

the government is seeking a compromise agreement, so negotiations will resume in January.

According to the ITM Secretary of State, the agreement is hampered by economic uncertainty, as there is no “gap” between proposals from employers and employees.

Bodó recalled that according to last year’s salary agreement, the minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum wage increased by 8 percent in 2020, whose value thus increased to 161 thousand HUF and 210 thousand 600 HUF this year, respectively.
