The parties involved in the case of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts (SZFE) will not sit at the table, nor at the time announced last week, that is, on Tuesday, September 8, the Index reported.
Last week, the Hungarian Rectors Conference and the National Student Autonomy Conference (HÖOK) convened to discuss student self-government led by Mihály Csernai, Vice-Rector László Upor and the university’s leadership, and the foundation board chaired by Attila Vidnyányszky. According to our sources, on Monday a letter was received stating that the trial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 am at the place originally known, ELTE.
Students and acting professors protest against the fact that the Orbán government handed over SZFE’s fate to the Vidnyánszky Foundation Board of Trustees without any meaningful dialogue, completely ignoring their suggestions.
In protest against the foundation’s board of trustees, the students occupied the SZFE building on September 1, demanding, among other things, that the Orbán government change the operation of the foundation and that Attila Vidnyánszky resign. On September 6, a chain of life was organized from the SZFE to Parliament, when László Upor announced that the start of the school year would be postponed.
