According to the introduction by László Sólyom, the three-volume collection titled Documenta

pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the birth of an independent, democratic and constitutional Hungary.

The former president chose eloquent images for the covers of each volume. The first volume of the chronology, which contains documents from his civil law work, shows a fragrant hellebore flower at the end of winter, native only to the Mecsek Mountains, while the volume containing the constitutional texts shows the almond tree of one hundred and thirty years in front of the tree in Europe), which is “a symbol of European constitutionality that survived hard times, flourishing centuries later.” The volume containing the public documents is decorated with the Banat peony, the flower that lives exclusively in Zengő. Sólyom writes about the latter:

The protection of the environment was the most beautiful and successful movement, the only habitat of the Banat peony, the protection of the Zengő, was proposed by the Defense League to the President of the Republic, and I remained active in this field as President.

According to the review of the book collection, Balázs Schanda, university professor and constitutional judge, was permeated by the constitutional judiciary of the 1990s with the conviction that he was the shaper of history as custodian of the “revolution of the state of law ”.

We can have actions, decisions, of which only a generation of disciples of disciples has enough distance to make judgments. However, the weight of the Documenta volumes also sends a message to skeptics: László Sólyom’s legal-public work is inescapable.
