The Ministry of Innovation and Technology sent a letter to Mihály Csernai, President of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) HÖK. They write:
We urge you to establish a dialogue with the maintainer as soon as possible.
The students recently addressed Minister László Palkovics. The head of the ministry was asked to withdraw the board of directors of the maintenance foundation SZFE.
In the letter sent to the Hungarian Nation, the request was firmly rejected. As they put it:
As of September 1, 2020, the Foundation for Theater and Film Arts is the legal maintainer of the University of Theater and Film Arts. The founders of the foundation’s board of trustees were appointed in compliance with the legal provisions. In accordance with the Basic Law, the management of the maintainer and the rights guaranteed therein do not violate the independence of the higher education institution with regard to matters related to scientific matter and the content of training and research. Questions regarding the school year should be agreed by the SZFE leaders with the maintenance foundation.
However, the ministry complained that the occupants of the university did not participate in the negotiations.
On Friday, the minister told ATV.hu that the discussions should be conducted by the board of directors with the leadership of the university.

The Innovation Minister recently explained that protesters at SZFE are knocking on the wrong door. László Palkovics said that he does not see any reason to withdraw the appointment of Attila Vidnyánszky or the Board of Trustees.
