A tender for the purchase of electric bicycles with a budget of one billion HUF will be announced in October, announced Péter Kaderják, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM). Unlike before, this time it is not companies and other companies, but people who can receive ministerial support.
So-called electric bicycles of different types and living in their heyday are very popular today. The amount of support in the application depends on the type of electric bike, accordingly, a maximum of HUF 90,000 can be ordered for the purchase of pedal sensor bikes and HUF 150,000 for torque sensor bikes, up to half the price of the vehicle. The government’s goal is to help cyclists to go to work, so it is necessary to attach a document proving the employment.
The ministry also reported that it would like to direct demand towards the cheapest brands accessible to interested parties, so that subsidized vehicles must not cost more than 900,000 guilders and must also meet specified technical and environmental requirements.
Government spokeswoman Alexandra Szentkirály said that promoting electromobility is a priority task for the government and that this tender is part of the Climate and Nature Action Plan announced in February.
70 percent of the adult population regularly rides a bicycle.
