Index – National – Hunting Businesses May Be Prepared for Brutal Losses

Unlike many companies, hunting companies were exempted from quarantine in Hungary in September, but the arrival of foreign hunters, who generated most of their income, was delayed, according to a report by ATV Híradó.

The report shows that the financial loss caused by the lack of foreign hunters cannot be compensated for by domestic hunters because they do not have such a thick wallet, especially for expensive big game. Domestic hunters are also much more cautious about the epidemic and, among other things, are unwilling to get into a car. In some areas, such as Hajdú-Bihar county, hunting income has decreased by 70 to 80 percent compared to previous years.

According to chief hunter Imre Vígh, the difficult situation has dragged down the entire industry, including the small and large game segment. The expert believes that the most expensive sector of the red deer is in the worst situation and, at the same time, the future of hunting companies has become uncertain.

National hunting companies fear that the tightening caused by the coronavirus will cause losses in the sector.
