Over several months, a man stole nearly nine million forints worth of hard drives from the warehouse of a company that sold technical products in Újpest, police.hu reported the case. The thief was run over by the company’s quarterly inventory when the deficit was noticed, after which a company representative filed a complaint in IV. district police.
Police officers easily identified the thief, K. István, 53, who was found to be working as a cleaner in the company’s warehouse and stole for months from security camera footage. The man simply took the products out of the box, then put them in his pocket and took them home, where he gave them to his adopted daughter, who was selling things online.
On October 8, 2020, Újpest police arrested István K. at his workplace and then K. Bettina at his apartment. They both confessed to the robberies.
The elderly resident was locked in the bathroom, but was shot down by the surveillance camera.
