Index – National – Have your documents expired? They will not be sanctioned for two months if they do not renew them

Documents expired during the emergency are valid for another two months, until December 15, MTI said on Thursday following the Coronavir Virus Press Center.

Government agencies ask customers who have not yet renewed their ID, passport or driver’s license to visit government windows as soon as possible and, if possible, by appointment.

To reduce face-to-face encounters during the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic, the government decided that citizen documents that expire between March 11 and July 3, as well as vehicle registration certificates, would remain valid in Hungary until December 15th. Of the 660,000 expired but automatically renewed ID cards, more than 280,000 have so far been replaced or government windows renewed.

To ensure faster and more convenient administration, as well as to observe the social distance of one and a half to two meters, the government offices ask clients to schedule an appointment in advance through the magyarorszag.hu website or the client line 1818 government. Due to expired licenses, technical test stations must be visited.

It is mandatory to wear a mask to cover the mouth and nose in the customer areas of windows and government offices, and license plates can only be operated by those who work there. To prevent infection, hand sanitizers were installed, plexiglass walls were installed on customer counters, and facilities were periodically disinfected. Offices can also limit the maximum number of people in client areas at one time.
