It is planned that in 2021 there will be a hunting exhibition marked with the name of Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, but now organized by Secretary of State Zoltán Kovács, to which billions will be reallocated even in the midst of the coronavirus epidemic. Tímea Szabó and Ágnes Vadai also asked the government about this.

The questions:

  • “Instead of the cost of the game show, why didn’t the government increase the epidemiological fund by $ 1,677 billion?” – Tímea Szabó (Dialogue)
  • “Given the lessons of the current COVID-19 epidemic, is it worth putting on an exhibition that expects 1 million visitors?” – Ágnes Vadai (DK)

Tamás Schanda, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, answered all this in a single sentence:

From the point of view of the resumption of life, it is important to hold world-class international events in Hungary.

At the end of April, another 1.677 billion HUF was transferred from this year’s budget to the hunting exhibition. It was also claimed that the government decision at the end of 2013, which prohibits the acquisition of cars, furniture and computer equipment by budget agencies from government-controlled chapters, does not apply to the acquisition of equipment related to readiness and realization of the exhibition and the series of related events.

The last time, the government reallocated 2 billion HUF in November last year to prepare for the hunting exhibition, and a Facebook post by Zoltán Kovács, who was appointed by the government spokesman for the secretary of state and then also in charge of the world exhibition revealed that More than 3 billion forints were spent on exhibition 2021. On the money poured for the planned World Hunting Show here and here we write in more detail
