This week, Gergely Karácsony signed a decree on the capital’s climate strategy. On Saturday, the mayor also announced on his Facebook page that the Radez Dezső Plan, the action plan for the development and maintenance of green infrastructure in the capital, had been completed.
The climate strategy sets out the steps to be taken over the next decade to substantially reduce harmful emissions. The objective of the Radó Dezső Plan is to serve as a guiding principle in the development of programs and projects related to the green infrastructure of the capital.
Climate change is already affecting the functioning of the capital, so it will be a primary consideration in all investments and projects to protect the environment and existing green spaces.
– said Gergely Karácsony. The mayor stressed that in addition to the multiple adverse effects of the epidemic, he has also drawn attention to the fact that we cannot continue living as we have been doing. The ever-accelerating world, globalization, is destroying our planet and this will have unpredictable consequences, emphasized the mayor of Budapest.
