Gergely Karácsony reacted to the announcement of the Hungarian State Treasury in an angry Facebook post that Budapest in government securitiesHas 135 billion HUF.
The antecedent of the case is that Viktor Orbán, in his interview with M1 on Saturday, took it out again so that the capital can deliver the 100 billion guilders it has available.
Gergely Karácsony emphasized that the capital does not have 100 billion florins in public securities, because between 2020-2022 the 3 plagues, that is, the epidemic, the government and the economic crisis together, will take 150 billion florins from Budapest.
The mayor argued in points:
• due to the crisis, we have to expect a loss of HUF 100 billion in business taxes
• the Hungarian government is the only one in the world that does not support local governments in times of crisis, but withdraws HUF 32 billion from Budapest
• the loss of public transport due to the epidemic (early September) justifies an additional expenditure of HUF 17 billion; and we spend about 4 billion guilders on defense instead of the government.
He goes on to say that what is in the city’s account is made up of:
• Pre-allocated development funds: HUF 31.3 billion,
• Funds disbursed from EIB loan agreements: HUF 38.7 billion,
• Commercial tax revenue of the districts: 5.5 billion HUF,
• The remaining 51 billion HUF was committed for the evolution of the 2021-2023 period and for the management of the operating deficit.
According to the mayor, if this money is not available, it will be lost
- Renovation of the chain bridge,
- road construction is lagging behind
- cleaning up the Blaha Lujza square is lagging behind.
Nor do I ask for anything other than what the Prime Minister is used to: seriousness. Children’s war of numbers instead of responsibility.
– said the mayor of Budapest.
Gergely Karácsony also makes a proposal to the government, viz.
The free selection of those who work in health and public education between 7 and 9 billion could be solved, for example, by rescheduling 50 billion for hunting exhibitions or 500 billion for gun purchases.
Add:
And a key issue in tackling the economic crisis is that support does not benefit a few, but the majority. The condition for this is that at least half of the enormous support provided to Hungary by the European Union, around HUF 2.5 billion, is used through local governments, in proportion to the population.
