The new coronavirus infection (Covid-19) was detected in 1,569 new Hungarian citizens, thus increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 363,450. There were 93 deaths, mostly elderly, chronic patients, so the number of deaths increased to 12,291. The number of people cured is also steadily increasing, currently at 249,003, and the number of active infections has dropped to 102,156, according to the government’s coronavir information page.

3,669 coronavirus patients are cared for in the hospital, 255 of whom are connected to ventilators.

So far 161,215 people have been vaccinated, of which 26,293 have already received their second vaccination. The campaign-like vaccination of healthcare workers will be completed in a few days and, starting today, vaccinations will focus on nursing homes. The goal is for the vaccination teams to reach all nursing homes and residential social institutions in the coming days. Government decisions on protection measures are presented in today’s Government Information.

The government wants to open it as soon as possible, but that requires mass vaccination and enough vaccine. EU supplies are slow and few vaccines arrive, so they are looking for other ways to get vaccines, they wrote on the government’s information page.

The Minister of Human Resources announced yesterday that a total of 6,236 ampoules of bamlanivimab would arrive in Hungary at the end of March in three stages, of which one shipment had already arrived.

Peter Szijjártó announced last week that we are taking 2 million doses of Russian vaccine from Russians. According to the head of the ministry, 300,000 people will be vaccinated in Hungary in the first month, 500,000 in the second month and 200,000 in the third month.

As the Index wrote, the restrictive measures are in effect until February 1. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said last week that relaxation is not expected until people are vaccinated en masse.
