By Monday, the new coronavirus infection had been detected in 3,470 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 283,870. 165 chronic patients, mostly elderly, died, bringing the number of deaths to 7,130. The number of recovered people is also constantly growing, currently 82,546 people, the number of active infected people is 194,194. The government has suspended the senior shopping time zone so that there is no tumult in stores during Christmas shopping. The suspension will remain in force until the contrary is decided: on Friday a government decree to that effect was published in the Hungarian Gazette.

Anyone can shop at grocery stores, pharmacies and drug stores with no time limit.

The suspension of the commercial zone for the elderly was initiated by national commercial organizations and agreed by the Council of Elders. It is still mandatory to wear the mask when making a purchase. Older people are asked to ask their loved ones to do the shopping if they can, but to avoid crowded purchases if they go to the store in person.

About the vaccine

The government is discussing all possible foreign vaccines and the website vakcinainfo.gov.hu ​​has been launched, where the need for vaccination can already be indicated. The post office has already started to deliver a letter to pensioners informing them of the possibility of the national chief physician Cecília Müller registering. Retirees can also report their need for coronavirus vaccination by completing and returning the form attached to the letter.

The vaccination will be free and voluntary.

Once there is a suitable vaccine approved by the authorities, the vaccines will be administered according to the vaccination plan, giving priority to health workers, and 25 hospitals have already been designated for this purpose, where health workers can be vaccinated.

About group rapid tests

In recent weeks specific rapid tests have been carried out among daycare, kindergarten, school, social and health workers. In the first two rounds, screening ended with a lower-than-expected turnout and low infection. Testing continued with government and district office personnel this week, the results of which will be summarized next week. The evaluation of social and health workers will also continue, in which case the institutions themselves will organize the tests, for which the government agencies will provide rapid tests.

About the rules

Stores, with the exception of pharmacies and gas stations, can remain open until 7pm, after which the curfew expires, so they can reopen at 5am at the earliest. Service providers and services that are not mentioned in the regulation (eg hairdresser, masseuse, personal trainer) can normally operate under the curfew rules.

The rules introduced so far regarding the use of masks and the maintenance of distance remain valid, with the use of masks being mandatory in some public areas of settlements with more than 10,000 inhabitants. It is the mayor’s responsibility to designate the areas. The use of a mask is not yet mandatory during sports activities, as well as in parks or green areas.

All meetings are prohibited.

Restaurants cannot stay, guests can only stay there to bring food. Hotels cannot accept tourists, only guests arriving for business, economic or educational reasons. It is forbidden to carry out any type of event, including cultural events and Christmas fairs. Sports matches must be held behind closed doors. The use of leisure facilities, in particular fitness rooms, indoor swimming pools, museums, libraries, cinemas, zoos and skating rinks is prohibited.

Kindergartens, kindergartens and primary schools are open until the eighth grade as usual, with special institutional protection measures determined by the principal. High schools and universities have moved to a digital agenda. The fixed Internet access service is available free of charge for thirty days to students and teachers of digital education in public education and vocational training.

Private and family events (such as birthdays) can be held for up to 10 people. Funeral, however, for up to 50 people.

Weddings can be held without a wedding, however only certain people can attend the event. Public parking is free. Commercial P + R, Parking Garage, Parking Garage, Enclosed Surface Parking and Non-Enclosed Surface Parking can be used free of charge from 7 pm to 7 am. The facility operator is obliged to allow free parking during this time zone.

The police strictly monitor compliance with the rules, impose fines and close places where regulations are not followed. Soldiers support the work of the police in various cities across the country and ease the burden on health workers in hospitals.

In Hungary, everyone has a hospital bed, care, a ventilator, and the goal of protective measures is to keep it that way. In order to continue providing hospital care to those infected with the coronavirus with the increasing number of patients, deferred surgeries were suspended and the number of hospitals included in care and the number of hospital beds reserved for patients with coronavirus was increased.

To stop the spread of the community continues

On the protection of the elderly

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. The elderly are also asked to pay more attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators must do everything possible to prevent infection. If a focal point takes place in a social institution or anywhere else in the community, the epidemiological deployment unit will take the necessary actions.
