The new rule for online billing was introduced on July 1, but will only now go into effect after a grace period due to the coronavirus epidemic. Accordingly, transactions between national taxpayers must be reported in NAV’s online account reporting system, regardless of the value limit.

Until now, it was only necessary to inform the tax office in case of VAT content higher than 100,000 HUF, now this restriction has been removed.

However, the invoice issued to individuals does not have to be sent at the moment, Lilla Németh, RSM’s fiscal director, told InfoRádió.

A company that does not submit the required documents on time can be fined HUF 500,000 per NAV invoice.

The penalty can also affect those who have sent an incorrect invoice to the tax office.

The expert also said that since the July 1 deadline, the number of online invoices sent has increased tenfold and the number of people registered in the system has risen to close to one million.

During the transition period, the tax office never used this severe penalty, but the expert said that the attitude of the tax office is expected to change on October 1, as

NEXT YEAR, NAV. PLANS TO PREPARE A DRAFT VAT DECLARATION FOR ALL THE COMPANIES OF THE ONLINE INVOICES.
