The decree signed by Viktor Orbán, according to which the government extended the applicability of the protection measures for another month, that is, until January 11, can now be read in the Hungarian Bulletin. The prime minister announced in a Facebook video released on December 7 that the restrictions that went into effect on November 11 would be extended by the government.

This means that there is still a curfew between 8 pm and 5 am, everyone must arrive home by 8 pm They are also in effect

  • obligations to wear a mask,
  • prohibition of groupings and public gatherings,
  • prohibitions on opening and staying in individual shops, restaurants, accommodation and leisure facilities.

Róbert Kiss, deputy director of the emergency center of the operational strain responsible for controlling the epidemic, recently reported that

From November 4 to December 7, authorities had to take action against a total of 10,838 offenders.

The government will decide on December 21 which rules will apply to its Christmas Eve. The New Year’s Eve parties are sure to be left behind, as will the street parties.
