Driving from Kékestető towards Mátraháza, the driver did not use the bus’s hydraulic end braking system (retarder) on the steep, winding and wet road with 39 passengers, only the service brake operated by the brake pedal, which was damaged, brake drums and brake shoes burned out, so the brakes burned out. the vehicle did not decelerate.

The bus driver noticed the fault at a speed of 65 to 70 kilometers per hour, after which he activated the retarder, but approached a sharp turn that he was unable to take. To avoid a major accident, he deliberately steered the bus to the right and collided with a tree on the side of the road.

In the indictment of the Eger District Prosecutor’s Office, he asked the Gyöngyös District Court to impose a suspended prison sentence on the man and also initiated the driving ban of the bus driver.
