Index – National – A Czech media company supports the start-up of Telex with two hundred thousand euros

One of the largest Czech media companies, Economia, supports Telex’s operations with two hundred thousand euros (converted to 72 million HUF), writes Reuters. Economia is one of the largest Czech media companies, published by Hospodářské Noviny and Respekt and owned since 2008 by Zdeněk Bakala.

The telex is being sparked by former index journalists who left the portal in July in a dispute with the publisher, hinting at the government’s intention to influence the intention to restructure the portal and the firing of former editor-in-chief Szabolcs Dull.

According to an entry on her Facebook page, Economia noticed them when the Index’s former deputy editor-in-chief Veronika Munk gave an interview to Respekt.
