By Wednesday, the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19) had been detected in 4,290 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 156,949. 99 have died, mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the number of deaths to 3,380 and 34,846 have already recovered. The number of actively infected people is 11,723. 23 percent of the actively infected, 26 percent of the dead and 26 percent of those recovered were in Budapest. The hospital cares for 7,499 coronavirus patients, 581 of whom are on ventilators.

The number of infected people is growing exponentially across Europe, in neighboring countries and in Hungary, and more and more people are seeking hospital care. They add that the new protection measures announced by the emergency serve to curb the epidemic, so they continue to ask for the cooperation and discipline of the Hungarian people in complying with the regulations.

Soldiers support the work of the police in various cities across the country and are involved in monitoring compliance with restrictions and curfews, as well as maintaining public order and public safety. In addition, starting Monday, the soldiers will relieve health workers in 93 hospitals under adequate professional supervision in tasks that can be performed without professional qualifications, and will be in charge of the surveillance and protection of each designated institution.

Restaurants cannot receive guests, they can only stay there to bring food. Hotels cannot accept tourists, only guests arriving for business, economic or educational reasons. It is forbidden to carry out any type of event, including cultural events and Christmas fairs. Sports matches must be held behind closed doors. The use of leisure facilities, including in particular fitness rooms, indoor swimming pools, museums, libraries, cinemas and zoos, skating rinks, is prohibited.

Nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools are open up to the eighth grade as usual, with special institutional protection measures determined by the principal. High schools and universities have moved to a digital agenda. The government has issued a decree whereby a fixed Internet access service will be available free of charge for thirty days to students and teachers of digital education in public education and vocational training.

Free flu vaccines are already being given as part of health protection. The provision of the influenza vaccine to GPs is ongoing.

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. The elderly are also asked to pay more attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home owners should do everything they can to prevent infection. If a focal point takes place in a social institution or elsewhere in the community, the epidemiological deployment unit will take the necessary actions.

They added that in addition to maintaining health protection, the government is also working on additional measures for economic and family protection.
