The National Ambulance Service already receives between 12 and 13 thousand requests for corona virus tests per day from general practitioners, Pál Győrfi said on Kossuth Radio.

A spokesperson for the National Ambulance Service noted that the previous tests involved between 100 and 150 tasks per day, it was not a serious challenge, but the second wave is receiving increasing demand overnight. Although basic life-saving activities are carried out, which are approximately 3000 cases a day, the tests must be maintained constantly. That is why they needed reinforcement.

Capacity had to be strengthened, and it was a big step in this that Semmelweis University students got involved, which was a great help not only for us, but also for the patients.

Pál Győrfi said. Not only was it necessary to build capacity, it was necessary to develop new methods. People with asymptomatic or mild symptoms can go to stable sampling points, while filter buses were also deployed a few days ago to detect suspected cases of coronavirus. He emphasized that the tests are ordered by a general practitioner or only in very justified cases.

Bálint Tripolszky, president of student self-government at Semmelweis University, spoke about the involvement of third and fourth year students in volunteer work. In addition to sampling, as he said, they also carry out administrative tasks, mainly agreeing on screening dates with the population.

When asked if the proper protective equipment was provided, he said yes, they ensure the safety of the students. Additionally, volunteers receive ongoing safety training and learn the proper sampling process, he stressed. He also pointed out that the defense also requires students to have a license, because the vehicles given to them by the Interior Ministry will have to drive them.

Bálint Tripolszky said a growing number of students are applying, many of whom are happy to help the defense out of the monotonous education system.

Few generations of doctors have the opportunity to participate in a strong deployment at such a young age to help the Hungarian healthcare system. They and Hungarian society benefit from this

Added the president of the Student Council of Semmelweis University.

On Saturday, the Index wrote that József Bódis, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Innovation and Professional Training at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, sent a letter to the National Conference of Student Governments (HÖOK) stating that he wanted to involve students in defending.

Bálint Tripolszky spoke exclusively about volunteers on Kossuth Radio.
