According to the Brazilian newspaper Globo, Silva, a chef, has lived in France for thirty years, most recently working as a caregiver for the elderly, and in her spare time she has helped organize the annual Brazilian Cultural Festival in Nice.
The terrorist, identified as Brahim Ausau, finished off the cathedral’s sacristy, Vincen Loques, 54, who was preparing for the first mass of the day when Ausua slit his throat.
Today the sacristy would have turned 55 years old.
The name of the third victim has not been announced to date. According to information so far, a 60-year-old woman who, like Silva, often attended the basilica, also arrived for mass on Thursday. His body was found next to the church’s holy water tank. His killer slit his throat and tried unsuccessfully to completely separate his head from his body.
Strange respect for the prophet
Brahim, a 21-year-old Tunisian, arrived in Italy as a migrant in Auschua on September 20. According to the Italian press, a photograph was taken, his fingerprints were taken and his history was verified, but the authorities found nothing to charge. In Lampedusa, he discharged the two-week quarantine imposed and was transferred to another camp where he was told:
he had no legal basis to stay in Italy and was later released instead of deported.
The terrorist thus arrived in Paris by train in the second week of October and remained there until Thursday. He boarded a train at dawn and finally reached Nice.
According to a report by the al-Arabia television channel, the young Tunisian came to Europe from an area that was experiencing economic difficulties and could not find a permanent job in his country. Presumably his family knew he was trying his luck in Europe, but they didn’t understand what he wanted in France, where he didn’t know anyone and didn’t speak the language either.
The terrorist had already sent a photo of the Nice basilica to his brother in Tunis at 7.30am on Thursday, saying he wanted to spend the day there. The family said they had no idea what Brahim Aussoui was planning.
The person in question waited for the church to open at half past nine, entered and was in the church for half an hour. After his act, the authorities found two unused knives, a Koran and two telephones.
