Fighting on Twitter, the Index noted that Alexander Lukashenko had consulted with Gyula Thürmer.

The meeting was also reported by Belarusian state media, but they did not share substantial details.

The Index contacted the “Internet and Propaganda Department” of the Hungarian Labor Party, where it was stated that we can find information about the trip mainly on their website. After that, we also reached Gyula Thürmer, who was still in Minsk, who repeated the announcement on the website almost literally over the phone.

I am doing a pioneering task. I am the first Hungarian politician to come to Minsk since the beginning of the August events. I will listen to what the Belarusian leaders say and tell it to Hungary.

Friendship of the peoples

We asked about the topic of the speech during the meeting with the Belarusian head of state. The far-left Hungarian dwarf party leader did not elaborate, but said:

Lukashenko is in good health, events have not been broken. He enjoys the trust of his environment and the support of Russia.

Thürmer added:

The President of Belarus appreciated the fact that Hungary has limited itself to handling events in his country.

By the way, Thürmer was received by Lukashenko on the same day as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. According to press reports, Lavrov spoke of Moscow’s interest in stabilizing the situation, to which the path through constitutional reform will lead.

Thürmer believed that this is exactly what is happening now: the situation is stabilizing, institutional reforms and constitutional amendments have been launched. According to him, the demonstrations were not as big as before and their objectives also changed.

People wear the mask in a disciplined manner, there are no restrictions, cinemas and theaters are open, it was an experience walking the streets of Minsk.

He said.

“They only hit who deserves it”

The EU failed to deliver on its plan

– Said the veteran Hungarian politician, adding: according to him, the West would really like to have the state property of Belarus in its hands. Thürmer affirms that an adult is a generation that no longer has what is given to it and wants more.

During his visit, the leader of the Hungarian Workers’ Party also gave a lecture at Minsk State University, where he spoke about Hungary and how Hungary is trying to achieve its independence. Of whom and of whom, Thürmer did not elaborate more.

When asked how he evaluated the violent actions of the security authorities against the protesters, Gyula Thürmer stated:

there is a constitutional order and violence was only used against those who provoked it. However, the masses who marched into the streets were violent at first and the security forces reacted by force.

Recently, the Index also wrote that the Lukashenko regime is still standing despite a steady wave of protests since the controversial presidential election on August 9. Violent organizations, on the other hand, are increasingly cracking down on protesters who are no longer safe in their own homes. The objective of power is to end the opposition. If, on the contrary, the protesters do not take to the streets also in winter, the regime will be victorious in the fight.
