Atomic scientist Mohsen Farizade, who was killed by unknown gunmen in Iran on Friday, was buried, writes The Guardian.

Farizade’s final farewell took place in Tehran with a military tribute.

During the ceremony, the murdered scientist was also declared a martyr.

Farizade’s coffin was escorted by an honor guard to the podium. In honor of the deceased, extracts from the Koran and other religious texts were read.

The funeral was also attended by Defense Minister General Amir Hatami and Ali Shamkhani, head of the National Security Council.
