A 69-year-old French MP, Olivier Dassault, one of the country’s wealthiest businessmen, was killed in a helicopter crash, Deutsche Welle reports.
The accident occurred in the Calvados province of Normandy in northwestern France.
The late billionaire was one of the heirs of a group called Dassault Group, which manufactures, among other things, fighter and private jets, and this company also publishes the prestigious newspaper Le Figaro.
Forbes estimated Olivier Dassualt’s assets at € 5 billion.
The politician-businessman was remembered by President Emmanuel Macron in his post on Twitter.
Olivier Dassault loved France. Captain of industry, deputy, local elected official, reserve commander in the air force: during his life he never stopped serving our country, valuing its assets. His sudden death is a great loss. Thoughts about your family and loved ones.
