The number of new coronavirus infections per day has reached a record in the Czech Republic, with 798 new confirmed coronavirus infections detected the day before, according to Saturday morning’s report from the Health Ministry.
However, this is 118 more than the highest number of cases the day before. On Thursday, only 680 contracted the infection.
By the way, the number of daily cases has increased since September 1, faster than in the spring. In recent days, the Czech Republic has the fastest growing number of patients in the Central European region, writes MTI.
It is added that since March 1, when the first infection was detected, more than 27,000 people have been infected in the Czech Republic. 429 people died from complications of the virus-induced Covid-19 disease, while more than 19,000 were cured. The number of active infections is about 7,800.
Since Tuesday, the use of a mask is mandatory in health and social institutions, offices, public transport and polling stations. However, in the case of a positive test, the mandatory quarantine has been reduced from two weeks to ten days.
Several Czech ministers and parliamentarians are also in quarantine because they have become ill or have come into contact with infected people. The epidemic does not spare artists or athletes either, the coronavirus test tested positive for István Margita, an internationally renowned Czech opera singer of Hungarian origin and his wife Hana Zagorova, who is one of the legends of Czech light music.
The Czech developments are also interesting because the Hungarian government decided this week to facilitate entry for those from the V4 countries.
As we wrote above, a negative coronavirus test within five days is enough for Czechs, Slovaks and Poles to enter. Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó also reported on this on Monday, saying:
the “Czech example” is extended to the entire V4, so that Czechs, Poles and Slovaks who have previously booked their accommodation in Hungary can come to Hungary with a negative test.
Although the situation is particularly bad in the Czech Republic and Hungary,
Overall, the second wave of the coronavirus is now spreading across the Central European region.
In Slovakia, the number of recorded daily infections began to rise in mid-August, with 137 new patients found in a single day, according to the latest data released on Friday. A total of 4,526 patients have registered with our northern neighbor so far, according to the Worldometers database.
