Despite Polish and Hungarian vetoes, negotiations on the European Union’s budgetary framework and recovery fund must continue, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok said in an interview on Friday, broadcast on television in Slovakia. Czech public service news CT24.

The veto does not mean the end of the negotiations. I still see room for this. From a political point of view, I would like to affirm that the rule of law, the application of the rule of law, must be the last thing that separates us. Therefore, Slovakia voted in favor of the compromise.

The Slovak foreign affairs director said.

Viktor Orbán: We will develop from our own forces, with no recovery money from the EU, starting in the spring

If an agreement on the EU budget cannot be reached, then the prime minister said. In addition to recent coronavirus data, he also spoke about vaccines.

Slovakia is not entirely happy with this debate and would find it very bad if the financial assistance needed in the current crisis situation were outside the rule of law. This debate will not materially affect the good relations between the four Visegrad countries, the foreign minister said.

However, it would not be good not to say in this situation that our positions differ

He pointed.

The V4s often have a common position, but not always, and the minister does not believe that this could lead to a “dramatic disintegration” of the Visegrad group. He is convinced that a compromise is needed.

The Slovak Foreign Minister considers that the dispute in this case no longer concerns only the European Commission, but also the question of the agreement between the Member States.

It is no longer realistic to expect that the rule of law can only be bypassed when EU funds are used. It will no longer be off the table

– Korčok world.

After a veto: EU leaders are looking for a solution

No substantial progress on the budget was made in yesterday’s video conference at the European Council. In epidemiology, there was a greater consensus.

According to him, every possible effort must now be made to ensure that the system on the table is objective and cannot be used to pressure certain states.

Now in Slovakia it seems to us that this system of the rule of law has been established in an acceptable way.

– stressed the Slovak Foreign Minister.

For Prague, the conditions for withdrawing EU funds are acceptable, said Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček.

The situation shows that we cannot always agree with our partners in Visegrad. For the Czech Republic, the compromise reached by the German Presidency is totally acceptable

Said the Czech Social Democratic Foreign Minister, whose words were quoted at a conference in Prague on the news television of the Czech public administration.
