In Italy, for the period of the Christmas holidays, from 24 hours on December 24, the strictest restrictions will be introduced, which will mean, among other things, a stop in interprovincial traffic, a curfew of full day and a suspension of commerce and hospitality.

You can only go outside with permission; for example, to work. Participation in Mass is allowed in the church closest to the place of residence. Only grocery stores, pharmacies and other stores that sell basic goods are open. Restaurants can work from home.

In addition to the Christmas period, the closing will be valid from December 31 to January 6.

The MTI correspondent in Rome reported. Visits between relatives or acquaintances are allowed as long as no more than two adults can join the household.

The Vatican said that Pope Francis had been tested again after two cardinals working in his area also tested positive.

According to the Italian Ministry of Health, in one day 14,522 new infections were examined in the country. The number of patients treated in the hospital is gradually decreasing, but still exceeds 25,000. In the intensive care unit, 2,624 patients are treated. Almost two million people have been diagnosed since the epidemic began. In one day 553 patients died.
