Xu Wenbo, an official with the Chinese Center for Epidemiology and Prevention, told Chinese state television, and the expert said in an interview:

There is no need to panic. The latest mutated coronavirus variant, compared to other coronavirus variants, has so far not shown a clear change in its ability to cause disease.

The coronavirus vaccine, developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm, was approved by the Chinese state on Thursday.

The expert also said in a statement that there is no indication that the new variant of the coronavirus affects the immune effect caused by the vaccine.

The British variant of China’s coronavirus, scientifically known as “VUI – 01/2020,” has an external structural protein that, in principle, makes the coronavirus spread faster, writes Reuters.
