Vang Xiang-shun is a popular Chinese flu and melting environmental glacier lost in icy water. He was mentioned on social media with the nickname Glacier Bro for his commitment to protecting glaciers.

A 30-year-old man fell into the icy waters of a melting glacier on December 20 in Lhari county in northern Tibet while observing a glacial waterfall, the BBC reported.

His body was not found, but a grieving report appeared on his social media channel:

My brother now rests in his favorite waterfall forever. He was obsessed with glaciers all his life, he gave his life for them. This is the best final resting place

– read in the obituary. In a video posted on Chinese social media, Vang is seen climbing a rock to lose his balance at the foot of the waterfall and then falling into the fast-flowing icy water. The flu was well known for its videos on the world of glaciers and for drawing attention to the consequences of climate change.

Vang Xiang-shun probably floated under an ice floe from which it is “almost impossible” to get out alive.

Said a member of the rescue team who set out to search for him, he told the English-language Chinese newspaper Global Times.

Vang Xiang-shun photographed more than 70 glaciers in seven years and also spoke at a UN conference on climate change.

Only in the place can you really see how fast the glaciers are melting

The flu previously said in an interview given to the Chinese Xinhua news agency.
