Dozens of people were killed by terrorists in an attack on a bus on a main road in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor, which is located on the Iraqi border, state press reported.

The press is aware of the 28 fatalities in the attack, but this is an unofficial data, there are also injuries. The Syrian Human Rights Watch Group reported 30 deaths.

Details from an official source are not yet known. Syrian army soldiers and militants of the Islamic State terror organization are also present in the area, maintaining camps near the ancient city of Palmyra in a desert area, writes MTI.

Syria’s Human Rights Monitoring Group knows that three passenger buses have been caught by Islamic State militants, disguising the scene as a roadside checkpoint. When the buses stopped, they were attacked with explosions and guns. According to the observation team, the victims were returning soldiers from their freedom.

Syrian state media rarely report military losses.
