Due to the dire situation of the epidemic, new austerity measures will come into effect in Slovakia from midnight, writes New Word. The first measure was announced by Transport Minister Andrej Doležal on social media.

All ski resorts in the country will be closed from midnight and

Hotel rules will change as well.

Guests who have already stayed can stay but cannot extend their stay, and hotels cannot accept new guests.

The minister promised more information later. Doležal wrote: they are aware that the decision is unpleasant, but in this situation, unfortunately, the inconvenience must be tolerated.

The SaS party called for austerity and the closure of ski resorts in advance. It has been pointed out that since hospitals are in danger of collapse, this difficult period can only be overcome with strict and unpopular precautions.

Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová warned of caution and restraint on New Year’s Day this year:

New Year’s Eve will largely determine the epidemiological situation in Slovakia in the coming days and weeks.
