Mutations in the coronavirus identified in the United Kingdom have also been reported in France and Japan, authorities said.

The French Health Ministry said on Friday that a new version of the pathogen had been detected in the body of a French citizen returning home from London. The man arrived from the British capital last Saturday. According to the information, he is currently well and is in voluntary quarantine.

A new mutation has been reported from the city of Tours that spreads much more easily than previously known coronavirus variants.

In France, more than 2.6 million people have already been identified, of which 62,548 have died from the disease. Almost 200,000 were healed.

On Friday night, Japanese Chief of Staff Tamura Norihisza announced that the virus mutation had also been detected in the island nation. He reported that between December 18 and 21, five infected people from Great Britain had been quarantined. A man in his sixties had complaints, but the other four people were asymptomatic.

Japan on Thursday imposed an entry ban on those from the United Kingdom. Currently, only Japanese or foreign citizens with a residence permit can enter the territory of the island country and must undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine upon arrival.

In Japan, so far, there are 214,574 confirmed infections and 3004 deaths.

Earlier, the Baden-Württemberg provincial Health Ministry reported that the mutation marked B.1.1.7 had been detected in the body of a woman who arrived in Germany last Sunday from the United Kingdom on an air visit.
