Something exploded in downtown Nashville, the capital of the US state of Tennessee, on the first day of Christmas at 5:40 a.m. local time on Friday, according to a local Fox News channel. So far, to learn of three injured, they have been transferred to the hospital, none of them in a state of crisis.

Local and federal authorities withdrew to the scene with great force, a fire department spokesman said an accident had occurred. According to initial reports, a parked caravan may have exploded, and subsequent police reports said it was an “intentional act,” NBC News wrote on Twitter.

The surrounding buildings shook from the force of the detonation, one of them set on fire, dozens of people rescued from it.

Dense black smoke floats over the scene. A witness, Buck McCoy, told CNN that three cars were completely covered in flames, downed trees and glass shards everywhere. He did not see any injuries, but he did see people who appeared to be in shock.
