Starting May 10, open-air Masses will be held again in Hungary. Pay attention to the individual announcements, because with the permission of the county bishops, it is already possible to hold public masses in the field.

The parish priest Miklós Mihályi will celebrate a mass for the faithful sitting in their cars, in front of the Church of the Assumption on the esplanade, on April 26, 2020. The parish priest has been celebrating car masses since Easter Sunday. To meet health standards, cars may roll in front of the church five minutes before Mass against the altar in front of the church door. Car windows can only be lowered on one side and the sacrifice is made in spirit. During the gentleman’s conversion and introduction, the car horns sound instead of the usual bells. At the end of the mass, the parish priest blesses each car separately, which is also the dismissal.

Mátraverebély-Szentkút, for example, announced on its website that from May 5 the masses will be made public again in the basilica, and from May 10 the masses in the open air will also be able to celebrate in the national sanctuary.

As they write,

In accordance with the provisions of the Hungarian Catholic Episcopal Conference and the Bishop of Vác, the public masses can be revisited in the open air as of Sunday, May 10, but participation is subject to rules.

• Masses can only be attended by people under the age of 65.
• One person can sit on each bench, they are not directly behind one another.
• A face mask should be worn.
• The parts of the Mass that require direct contact are also modified, and in the greeting of peace, it is not yet possible to shake hands among the faithful, and it is only possible to sacrifice in the hands.
