The construction of a modern chicken slaughterhouse, said Attila Csányi, CEO of Bonafarm, founded by his father, Sándor Csányi. portal.
Attila Csányi stressed the need to build the new Pick plant in order to bring development delays, although they are aware that the investment can only pay off in the long term.
Pick Szeged Zrt., Which belongs to Bonafarm, participated in the MNB’s Growth Bond Program, thanks to which it raised HUF 26.99 billion in external funds for the development of the new plant.
The group is also planning other investments, livestock farms, stables and feedlots, which could contribute to market acquisition and strengthen the long-term cross-border role of the Hungarian food industry.
They would also expand to the United States.
According to Attila Csányi, food exports may be Hungary’s driving force, but lifting animal health restrictions is essential for this. The company had many problems with African swine fever, which they could not calculate, as well as with the closure of the Chinese market, despite the fact that a significant part of the slaughterhouse strategy and capacity was built for the Far East market. Furthermore, avian influenza has exacerbated the situation, as has the coronavirus epidemic, although production has not stopped due to the rapid response.
Currently, the company exports salami to 26 countries, with Pick’s products being the most popular in Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Romania.
According to Attila Csányi, the company was expelled from Japan due to swine fever, but they see fantasies in the growth of the export market, so they would also expand to the United States. The CEO also spoke about the fact that it is worth expanding, especially in countries where people know the brand they want to sell.
