On Monday, it announced four investments worth a total of HUF 64 billion on the community site of Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The largest of these is the expansion of the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét, where

Added to this are two Indian developments and one Korean, also related to the automotive industry, in Kecskemét, Gödöllő and Gyöngyöshalász.
On Monday morning, the minister broadcast live on his own Facebook page from the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét, where the investment was announced. Christian Wolff, the factory manager, was the first to speak and said that there was an exciting new chapter in car manufacturing in Hungary. Kecskemét will be the first in Hungary to produce fully electric cars, which will be marked with an EQB mark.
Series production of the model will begin in the fall of 2021.
This will be achieved with an investment of 100 million euros.
The factory manager stressed that the new model combines “Hungarian creativity and German precision.”
Klaudia Szemereyn Pataki, Mayor of Kecskemét, thanked Mercedes for creating hundreds of new jobs thanks to developments and investments, so that the future of almost five thousand people is predictable in such an uncertain period. The mayor said:
Mercedes is a fair and loyal ally that we cannot count on when the car leaves.
Péter Szijjártó also spoke on the occasion of the announcement, where he said that
Despite the temptation, we did not choose the easy path either. We do not support unemployment, but job retention.
As factories close around the world, we announce new investments in Hungary. Mercedes will provide an investment of HUF 50 billion for body preparation and technology, and the Hungarian government will support the developments with an additional HUF 15 billion.
Thus, whatever happens in the economy, thanks to developments, it is possible to produce internal combustion, hybrid and electric cars in Kecskemét, so the city can stand firm in the field of car production at any time, he added the minister.
