In early December, MOL and a Croatian state oil company “lost” a gas platform fifty kilometers northwest of Pula, Istria. INA has several platforms in this area, the one involved, Ivana Dt, has been installed to extract gas.

Meanwhile, Ivana D was found at a depth of 40 meters on the seabed, the INA has not yet been able to comment on the cost of the restoration and investigations are continuing. They added that they should definitely lift the platform from the sea.

In the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, due to the 70 km / h south wind (sirocco) and 6-7 m high waves, all connections, including process control, navigation and eye contact, in Ivana D’s afternoon, with an unmanned natural gas production facility. The Emergency Stop System (ESD) was activated immediately and by closing the safety valves, the gas wells were brought to a safe state while the pipeline pressure remained stable. The incident had no impact on the environment and did not affect INA’s other offshore production facilities, which are still operating as planned, INA told our portal.

INA staff carried out partial inspections every two weeks at the facility and full inspections were carried out annually under the supervision of the authorities: the first on December 1 and the second in October. The underwater part of the Ivana D was inspected in 2018 in the presence of inspectors from the Croatian Maritime Registry.
