Anyone who was even interested in the news about what was happening on Tuesday with doctors, nurses, nurses, health workers was waiting for the General Directorate of the National Hospital (OKFŐ) to speak. This is because they are expected to have added the number of those who have not signed the legal service contract, which means that their civil service status ceased on March 1 and they completed their work in the public sector.

We were unable to speak to OKFŐ on Tuesday morning, but found that the news from the telegraph office was worth watching, because the head of the directorate-general would be talking about the data soon. Zoltán Jenei spoke shortly after three-thirty, told a press conference in Budapest that more than 95 percent of healthcare workers had signed a contract in accordance with the new statutory law, according to data from Monday by the night. The CEO of OKFŐ called this a great achievement.

Jenei added that the 95 percent rate could go up to 96 percent.

The general director of the national hospital said that in this situation, there are guarantees that the standard of care in any part of the country will remain the same as before and may even improve. He said that although there were many skeptical and critical opinions, the result of the negotiations broken down by the individual and the flow of information ultimately resulted in a 95 percent result.

He stressed that many issues and concerns were expressed during the negotiations. These are collected on an ongoing basis in consultation with hospital administrators. They are open to thinking about how they can do even more to improve quality in the next period. He said he respects healthcare workers who have agreed to remain in the public sector even during this difficult period.

“You can give a total guarantee” that medical care is provided even during the epidemic, said Zoltán Jenei. He pointed out that there are smaller municipal hospitals in which a greater number of personnel from each area have not signed the new contract, these places will have the appropriate conditions through redeployment.
