As the Index reported, a Chinese tech company collected data on roughly 2.4 million people on a large scale. Among those observed, there are also the names of many Hungarian public figures. Among others, one of the daughters of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Gábor Kubatov, leader of the Fidesz party, Ágnes Kunhalmi MSZP MP, Márton Gyöngyösi MEP, right-wing MEP, József Pálinkás, former president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Gábor Kuncze, former president of the SZDSZ.

Blikk managed to speak with the former mayor, István Tarlós, who does not understand why he is included in the Chinese database with his family:

I have three children, two are secondary school teachers and a third works for a company, not in a managerial position. They have no business, no politics, no foreign relations. I wonder what a Chinese company or the military wants from them.

MSZP co-chair Ágnes Kunhalmi told the newspaper that she had been hit in the heart when she saw her name on the list of the Chinese surveillance company. Márton Gyöngyösi MEP, who is on Jobbikos’ list, spoke about his hope that Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó would invite the Chinese ambassador and ask for an explanation.

One of Orban's daughters, Kubatov and Kunhalm, was also observed by Chinese intelligence.

Beijing collected data on millions and the list of Hungarian observers was leaked. We asked a sinologist and a hacker about the confusing espionage.
