One in ten men in Hungary drinks alcohol every day, according to the Portfolio of European Population Health Survey Results. According to the article, the proportion of heavy drinkers in the total population has decreased. Referring to the CSO, the document states, that we all know for a fact, that smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol also have a detrimental effect on our health.
According to the survey, more than six percent of the population consumes alcohol every day, and exactly 19 percent of people have a glass each week; at least monthly, but less than 21 percent per week, less than 24 percent per month, and 29 percent of those surveyed do not drink alcohol at all.
The distribution by gender is also interesting. While the proportion of men who drink alcohol at least once a month is higher, the proportion of women who drink rarely once a month or never is higher.
Eleven percent of men and only 1.8 percent of women consume some form of alcohol every day.
About a fifth, 19 percent of men and 39 percent of women never drink.
