Marcell Murányi fell ill while riding his bike on Saturday and his heart stopped with a tragic suddenness, Media1 learned.

The portal knows that Murányi was tried to revive or that he fought for his life for a long time in a hospital, but the journalist died.

Marcell Murányi was born on January 16, 1967. He worked for Today and since 2002 for Sunday Blikk. Since 2006 he was editor-in-chief of Blikk.

When Ringier and Axel Springer merged to form Mediaworks, he became editor-in-chief of Népszabadság, which he held for a limited year, until May 2015. He resigned after causing a fatal accident with his car in March 2015.

After Népszabadság, until spring 2017, he was director of communications for the Hungarian Socialist Party. Most recently, he ran the Zugló district media company.

The family also confirmed Marcell Murányi’s death to the MTI.
