An official action begins in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Dr. Pál Réthy, a member of the Central Hospital of the County of Békés, after the Circle of Support for the Birth of Békés, a local defense group, complained to the Ombudsman’s Office Pueblo for two hospital practices that were deemed harmful, the organization said on its Facebook page.
The organization approached the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights last September about two problematic practices at Békés County Central Hospital:
- According to the presentation of the chief physician, the women were publicly examined and operated in front of the obstetrics plenary, and had to wait in the corridor without panties;
- and at night, the baby could only be with the mother if the mother had signed a separate document about it, but it was “mandatory” to inject the babies with the other babies in the nursery during examinations, visitation and bathroom.
After four months, the investigation of the Ombudsman’s Office was closed, and on Friday the organization received a letter from the Ministry of Human Resources in which, although the ministry did not go into details, it was written that
The National Center for Public Health (NNK) has identified a series of irregularities and, based on the results of the investigation, will take the necessary actions as part of a special official measure, taking into account the recommendations of the Chief Physician.
The Circle of Support for Pacific Delivery hopes that the “number of irregularities” mentioned in the letter will be understood as the problems they describe, and that these will be clearly eliminated and prohibited in the Békéscsaba maternity ward. And if 24-hour rooming is implemented, and it will not only be tolerated, allowed, but will actually be supported by the department’s staff, it will be the result of their three-year work, they write in their entry.
