After Viktor Orbán announced a plan to increase the salaries of doctors, the Independent Health Union (FESZ) on Sunday asked the prime minister to increase the salaries of professionals and other publicly funded health workers in proportion to salary increases for doctors in early 2021.

Health professionals demand a salary increase in line with that of doctors

They were not discussed in the trial of the Hungarian Medical Chamber and Viktor Orbán.

On Monday, the Ministry of Human Resources (EMMI) rejected the claim by the National Press Service considering that the requested salary increase had already been received by health workers. In his opinion, the government began to fix the salaries of health services by increasing the salaries of workers.

Over the past six years, the national government has taken important steps to financially value healthcare professionals that have never been seen before. Thanks to the salary increase program launched in 2018, salaries for healthcare professionals will increase by 72 percent by 2022 in four steps. In 2019, the government implemented an anticipated 8 percent salary increase for workers, which included nurses.

Miklós Kásler: historical advances in the salary evolution of health workers

Hungarians have health personnel, and the doctors, nurses and professionals who support them can count on the Hungarian government.

For the future, they add:

In November this year, the salaries of nurses and healthcare professionals will increase by an additional 20 percent, and starting in January 2022 they will receive another 30 percent salary increase, so by 2022 a nurse will earn on average two and a half times what it earned before 2016. The government’s primary goal is to provide all healthcare workers with a more predictable livelihood and opportunity for advancement, thanks to its commitment to preventing the spread of the coronavirus and protecting the health of his compatriots.
